Past meetings
January 2nd 2009 - Annual
General Meeting.
By it's very nature this is never one of
the most riveting evenings of the year
but active groups such as ours don't run
themselves and business has to be taken
care of!
Current members of the committee were
all prepared to continue in their posts
and were all re-elected unopposed.
Full minutes will be circulated to all
members.
We also had the opportunity to see the
new books and DVDs that have been
purchased for our library using part of
the
award we have recently received from
Awards for All Wales
The program for 2009 was
distributed (details
here) , from this you can see that
we are in for another action-packed year
so don't miss a single meeting!

A
visit
to
the
Galapagos
Islands.
This, for those who could make it, was a
really interesting evening. Sadly
though, this was right in the thick of
the snow that almost sent us back to the
ice age. This was the day that the
Severn Bridge was dropping half ton
blocks of ice on the passing motorist,
this was .... OK, you get the picture.
Understandably, this meeting was not
well attended. This is a shame because
Frances always puts a lot of work into
her talks and we all learn a lot from
them. Hopefully Frances will have the
opportunity to reprise this talk some
time in the future.
Perhaps when there's a heatwave.

-
Bonaire,
beneath
Caribbean
seas
Bonaire, if you're not familiar with it,
is a small island in the Dutch Antilles
just off the coast of Venezuela. Dave,
apart from being a specialist snake
breeder is also a keen scuba diver. This
evening he gave us all a taste of the
variety of spectacular wildlife that
lives just a few metres below the
surface of the Caribbean that not many
people get to see.

This
was a follow-up to our
visit to Morrison's

so many first time visitors at our
meeting, several of whom have expressed
an interest in becoming members. The
more the merrier!
